An urban transit map redesign focused on clarity, visual hierarchy, and user experience.

This academic project tackled a complex information design challenge: how to visually represent one of the busiest subway systems in one of the most chaotic cities the world. The solution involved creating a structural system that simplified the map’s readability and navigability, without discarding its existing codes and logic. The new layout was built on a strict modular grid to standardize distances between stations. Lines were limited to 0°, 45°, and 90° orientations to reduce noise and improve orientation, especially in saturated areas. The original color-coding system was preserved, with enhancements made to contrast and visual clarity. A hierarchy was also developed to differentiate between types of stations, ensuring a smoother experience for both local commuters and visitors.
